Jos Vergauwe and his love for walrusses

Jos Vergauwe and his love for walrusses

Jos Vergauwe carves beautiful little treasures out of stone and bone, tusk and horn. His various carved animal characters are all of their own beauty, some have an ancient look, some even have a humorous character. All of his beautiful, detailed and unique amulets or sculptures show his passionate dedication to this craft, often created with a twinkle of an eye. Jos’ favorite animal to carve, however, is the walruss. Two of these rather big, clumsy looking and adorable animals of the sea are shown in this beautiful carving. They gather sympathetic emotion through their relaxed position and face expression and looking at it we can easily think ourselves into at times.
